Keynote Speaker: Eugene Napoleon
By all accounts, it seemed Eugene Napoleon had the cards stacked against him as he grew up in the Marion Garden Housing Projects located in Jersey City, New Jersey. In most cases, some would view this as a hardship, but not Napoleon. Instead, he continued to dream of great things, and set for himself two important goals for his life; to one day play professional football, and to ultimately become a successful business owner. With hard work and determination, he established himself as a standout student-athlete at St. Joseph’s high school, located in West New York, New Jersey. Eugene Napoleon was one of the most highly recruited running backs in the nation coming out of high school. He made seven high school All-American teams and was rated the number 13th best running back in the country and was rank the third best running back on the East Coast by the Tom Lemming Report. After accepting a full scholarship to attend the University of Pittsburgh, Napoleon decided to transfer to West Virginia University where he enjoyed a successful college football career; topping it off with being a major part of the 11-0 undefeated football team that played Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl for the National Championship. Napoleon signed a licensing deal with Retro Brand, and his number 33 Retro football jersey can be purchased at the Book Exchange on campus at West Virginia University among other locations.
