LIFT Mentoring Program

The mission of the Leadership, Inclusion and Future Talent (LIFT) Mentoring Program is to prepare new Mountaineer students from underrepresented backgrounds, to succeed socially, academically, and professionally at West Virginia University and beyond. This program was created in partnership with WVU Student Engagement and Leadership.

LIFT Mentoring Program Pillars

  • Social Networking - Social adjustment to college is a major factor in the overall success of every college student. LIFT provides ongoing programs to help students connect with each other in various social settings.
  • Academic Support - Success in the classroom is a focus of LIFT. Students will be introduced to resources and skills to aid in their academic achievement.
  • Mentorship - First-year students are matched up with upper class students called LIFT Mentors

Hear From Past LIFT Students

See how this program has supported students in the past.

The WARMup was amazing to me because not only did it help me find my community in a place where I thought I’d be isolated, but it helped me develop skills that were very beneficial to me and my studies.
