Research Study Tour
CBCR Research Study Tour to the Black Film Festival in Martha's Vineyard.
This year the Center for Black Culture and Research did its research study tour in Martha’s Vineyard where we attended the “Run and Shoot African American Film Festival”.
The festival, now in it’s 17th year, provided our students with the unique opportunity to interact with African American script writers, directors, actors, producers, and young filmmakers, to study the impact of Black Films on American culture and study the social issues that many Black films address.
There was early access to new African American films that premiered at the event, as well as panel discussions, events, and one on one opportunities where students were able to interact with other media experts who enlightened them about many different aspects of the profession.
We were also able to explore the Black history of the island, and spent some time at “Inkwell”, the island’s historic Black beach. And since we resided up-island, we also were able to experience Martha’s Vineyard at its pristine best, from the quaint shops, to its unspoiled natural beauty.
All in all…an amazing experience!
